and Up in the Clouds - a jazz presentation
at the Clune Center for the Arts, Wilton, CT

The Ridgefield School of Dance presents two performances each year; The Nutcracker in December and full-length classical ballets for the annual, year-end performance. Both events include a classical ballet and a highly choreographed offering from the Jazz Department (jazz, contemporary, lyrical, tap and musical theatre dance).

Artistic Director presented 3 ballets for the 2023 spring performance - Act II of the classical Swan Lake performed by our PreProfessional Division, a very humorous Carnival of the Animals presented by students from Ballet 2 through the PreProfessional level, and the charming A Young Person’s Guide to the Orchestra that featured our youngest dancers.

June 2022 the ballet department presented the incomparable A Midsummer Night’s Dream performed to the music of Felix Mendelssohn and based on the play by William Shakespeare. Artistic director Jessica Boelts created a magnificent performance featuring the Ridgefield School of Dance Ballet Company.

For our Spring 2021 performance, artistic director Jessica Boelts, developed original choreography for The Four Seasons to the music of Antonio Vivaldi and Max Richter. Due to the pandemic, she created a ballet that limited the number of dancers on the stage at any time. It was an exquisite performance.

Ballets in our repertoire include Alice in Wonderland, Carnival of the Animals, The Sleeping Beauty Ballet, Cinderella, and Les Sylphides. Recent productions have also included selections from Paquita, Swan Lake, and Romeo and Juliet. In May, 2018 we performed Madeline, a new ballet based on the children’s classic and in June, 2019 we performed Alice in Wonderland, both featuring original choreography by artistic director Jessica Boelts.
